Mick Doherty - Musician/Voice Actor

When I'm not performing with Deb Chase in Oregon Shadow Theatre productions, I play and teach music. I perform in concert with the Cascadia Folk Quartet (a.k.a. The Whammadiddle Dingbats!) and the Trail Band playing hammer dulcimer, string bass and guitar, as well as singing.

I often play hammer dulcimer for private engagements (corporate functions, weddings, parties, etc.) and teach individual hammer dulcimer lessons and workshops at dulcimer festivals. I have made a number of recordings through the years. Here's my music performance calendar.

In 1979 I began making my living as a musician, first as a busker, later as a concert stage and recording musician. I've busked from Washington, D.C. to Boston to Chicago to San Diego, and on one memorable tour from Paris to Munich. Concert engagements have taken me from Tallahassee to Tokyo (that was just two gigs with the Trail Band, but I love the alliteration) not to mention lots of other cities and towns, performing in venues of all types including park amphitheatres, pre-schools, elementary schools, high schools, colleges, classrooms, auditoriums, barns, living rooms, dining rooms, nursing homes, hospitals, folk clubs, critter clubs, taverns, coffeehouses, VFW Halls, Parrish halls, grange halls and concert halls.

In between the concert gigs and the shadow plays, I play for wedding parties, anniversary parties, birthday parties, reunions, corporate soirees, square dances, contra dances, and generic flat-out-good-time gatherings. Feel free to contact me regarding contracting live music for an event.

I am also available for voice acting work.

Aside from "for hire" gigs, I have volunteered my services for non-profit, charitable and political events, both as musician and as MC. I've served on a number of not-for-profit boards/panels on matters related to the arts.
